Terms of use

Last updated: ⁦2026-09-16⁩

These terms govern your use of the Albatriq platform. By using it or creating an account you agree to them.

1. What the service is, and who is legally responsible

Albatriq is a technical intermediary: it builds the electronic document (receipt or invoice) to Egyptian Tax Authority's specification, signs it with your electronic stamp, and files it with the system on your behalf.

Registration with the authority is in your company's own name, and the credentials you enter into the platform were issued to you. Accordingly:

  • You are the taxpayer legally answerable to the authority for the accuracy of every field of every document: prices, quantities, tax classes, item codes and buyer details.
  • Albatriq does not review the accuracy of your commercial data and does not provide tax, accounting or legal advice.
  • Our responsibility is that what reaches the authority matches what you entered, and that it arrives.

2. Your account and your data

  • You are responsible for the confidentiality of passwords, API keys and signing device keys. Anything done with them is treated as done by you.
  • You can revoke any key immediately from the dashboard, and it stops working at that moment.
  • Your company details — above all your Tax registration number — must be correct and match what the authority holds. The Tax registration number cannot be changed once a first document has been issued, because it identifies the taxpayer on every document already issued.
  • You are responsible for what the users of your account do, for granting each of them the right permissions, and for withdrawing them when someone leaves.

3. Issued documents are never edited or deleted

This is not our policy but the tax system's rule: a document that has been issued stays as it is. A correction is a new document:

  • An incorrect receipt is corrected by a return receipt that references it.
  • An invoice is corrected by a credit note (to reduce it) or a debit note (to increase it).

So the platform does not allow any document to be deleted or edited after issue, and neither can we.

4. Subscription and payment

  • A 14 day free trial starts when the account is created, and needs no payment card.
  • You hold one subscription at a time. What you can buy against it is a renewal, an upgrade, or a move to a smaller plan starting when your current period ends.
  • An upgrade is immediate and pro-rated: you pay the difference over the days left of the period you have already paid for, and the end date does not move. At renewal you pay the new plan's full price.
  • Moving to a smaller plan does not shorten a paid period and carries no refund.
  • The plan's monthly allowance counts every document you issue — receipts, invoices, returns and notes.
  • Payment is currently by bank transfer or InstaPay, and the subscription is activated once the transfer is matched against the statement.
  • Prices are in Egyptian pounds and exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.
  • We may change published prices. A change never affects a period already paid for, and is notified a reasonable time before the next renewal.

5. Cancellation and refunds

  • You can switch off automatic renewal at any time from the dashboard, and your subscription runs to the end of the paid period.
  • Amounts paid for a period that has begun are not refundable, unless the law provides otherwise.
  • If the service is unusable for a reason attributable to us, for a continuous period that materially affects your use of it, contact us and we will consider appropriate compensation for the affected period — as an extension or a reduction at renewal.
  • We may suspend an account immediately for a serious breach of these terms, or for non-payment after the grace period. In both cases your data remains available to read and export, as set out below.

6. When a subscription ends

When the period ends the account enters a 5 day grace period before it is suspended. While suspended:

  • No new documents can be issued.
  • Your existing data and documents remain stored, and you can read and export them.
  • Documents already issued but not yet filed with the authority continue to be sent — a sale made while you were a subscriber is reported.

7. Acceptable use

The platform may not be used to issue documents for transactions that did not happen, for a taxpayer you are not entitled to represent, or for any purpose contrary to the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. You may not attempt to reach another subscriber's data, disrupt the service, exceed your plan's limits by technical means, or run a penetration test against the platform without our prior written permission.

The API is available on the plans that say so, and each key carries the permissions of whoever created it.

8. Intellectual property

The platform, its software, interfaces, design and the «البطريق» / Albatriq mark are ours. Your subscription grants you only a non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use for its duration and for the purpose of running your business. The platform may not be copied, reverse engineered, or resold as access.

Your data stays yours. We claim no right over it, use it for nothing beyond operating the service for you, and you can export it at any time.

9. Availability and limits of liability

  • Albatriq is server-rendered, so if your premises lose their connection you cannot reach it. Only the mobile app keeps a local queue that carries on selling while the line is down.
  • A sale is stored before it is signed or sent, so the authority's system being down or slow delays the filing and never loses the sale; sending is retried automatically.
  • We are not responsible for failures of the authority's system, for your internet provider, or for a signing token failing or its certificate expiring.
  • The service is provided as available. We do not warrant that it is free of defects or fit for a particular purpose we have not agreed in writing.
  • We are not liable for tax penalties or fines arising from data you entered incorrectly, from your delay in issuing a document or filing a return, or from your not following up rejected documents.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost opportunity and damage to reputation.
  • Our total financial liability in any event does not exceed what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the event.

10. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for a failure caused by an event beyond its reasonable control: a wide failure of telecommunications or power, a failure at an infrastructure provider, a decision of a competent authority, a natural disaster, or armed conflict. The other party is told of the event and its likely effect as soon as possible.

11. Third-party providers

We use a hosting provider and an email provider to run the service, only to the extent needed. We remain responsible to you for their performance in respect of our service, and what is shared with them is set out in the privacy policy.

12. Termination and data retention

You can switch off automatic renewal or ask us to close your account at any time. Your documents remain stored for the period the law requires books and records to be kept (five years), and you can export them before closure. What we keep and why is in the privacy policy.

13. General

  • Assignment: you may not assign this agreement without our written consent. We may assign it on a merger or sale of the business, with notice to you.
  • Severability: if a clause is invalid the rest stand, and it is replaced by one approaching its lawful effect.
  • Waiver: not exercising a right at one time is not a waiver of it.
  • Entire agreement: these terms, with the privacy policy and the service level, are the whole of the agreement between us about the platform.
  • Language: the Arabic text prevails in case of any difference with a translation.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, and will tell you about material changes at your registered address a reasonable time before they take effect. Continuing to use the platform after that is acceptance, and the date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Cairo have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
